The Stanley Story
The Stanley Works, originally a bolt and door hardware manufacturing company located in New Britain, Connecticut; was founded in 1843 by Frederick T. Stanley. A few years later, in 1857, Frederick's cousin, Henry Stanley, founded The Stanley Rule and Level Company. In 1920, The Rule and Level Company merged with The Stanley Works and would go on to become it's famous Hand Tools Division. Over the years, The Stanley Works has produced some of the most innovative and useful tools ever made. Among these tools are the Bailey Plane, the Surform shaper, the PowerLock tape rule and most recently the FatMax line of products. Today, more than ever, Stanley continues to be an industry leader in tool innovation. In 2001, Stanley introduced more than 100 new products, bringing to 400 the number of new products introduced in the past four years. As a direct result of Stanley's commitment to excellence, Stanley was awarded the Prestigious Golden Hammer Award, presented for New Product Innovation in both 2000 and 2001.

5 out of 5 stars Very high quality!   June 29, 2006

Purchased this for some weekend warrior deck repair. Excellent balance and I was actually suprised how much a company could improve such an age old tool!

One of the reviewer wrote something to the effect, "it's a hammer, what's the big deal". Well, I pretty much thought the same thing, and always used cheap hammers. What a difference this hammer (or probably any quality hammer) makes. It feels balanced in you hand and gives you confidence when hammering. If you don't have a good hammer in your tool box, get one.

5 out of 5 stars a hammer isn't just a hammer   October 2, 2005

I've been a carpenter for 20 years and I've used just about every hammer out there. I bought the Stanley anitvibe 20 oz. about a year
ago and I love it. The handle fits comfortable in your hand and the curve at the but of the handle keeps you grip firm.

This is one of those tools that just puts a smile on your face when you hold it in your hand. For years, I've used an old wooden-handled hammer my dad used to fix fence with on the ranch. As soon as I got this nice Stanley in my hand, I knew I'd made a good choice. I was in the middle of a remodeling project when it arrived and immediately put it to work. What a difference! I didn't know what I was missing. Nice weight, balance, and grip. No vibration. A good choice.
