| Customer Reviews: AWESOME HAMMER THING May 22, 2010 C. Hayes Mankind had to evolve millions of years in order for me to hold this awesome hammer in my hand. Now this is smart engineering. I've seen so much stupid engineering ... Amazon reviews are full of examples of that. This is NOT one of them. Some one or group of geniuses took an ordinary hammer and turned it into a work of art. AND IT EVEN HAMMERS NAILS TOO! The first time I tried it I couldn't believe it was actually possible to enjoy hammering a nail. Well I'm here to tell you that it is. It's as if the hammer is hammering the nail and I'm only guiding it. WEIGHT FORWARD is actually for REAL and is not a MARKETING GIMMICK. Didn't know that was possible. I liked it so much I bought one for a friend for his birthday. I liked it so much I ordered the smaller 17oz version too. If aliens use hammers on their UFOs then they look like this one!
subtle ergonomic changes that make a BIG difference April 4, 2010 M. Swaim (NC United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've used standard Estwing framing and claw hammers for decades. I've been very well served by just about everything Estwing that I've ever used. However, due to a permanent wrist injury my beloved Estwing framing hammer became more of a chore to use than normal. I was about a third way through framing up a poultry barn when I had to take a break and go into town for more materials. With wrist and shoulder paining me from a couple days of framing, I saw this Ergo Estwing in the clearance bin. For what they were asking, I thought, "why not?" figuring that at best it might help me get through another couple days of heavy framing. I'm pleased to say that was over a year ago, and I've been using this weight forward Estwing for most all of my framing needs ever since. It hits like it's heavier brethren, but it doesn't fatigue my wrist and forearm nearly as much. Finally, a framer that I can once again use for days on end. It took a day or two to get used to, but now I swing it as an extension of my arm without as much bone jarring as a standard framer. If you've got wrist, arm and shoulder issues and you need to keep building, give this tool a try. Recommended.

i bought this hammer at a local ace on sale.i`ve used estwing in the past.
but this hammer really is a different animal.not only do you not have to swing with as much force but once you get used to the feel it almost falls on the nail naturally.
i`m used to california style handles so it took getting used to and i bent more then a few nails trying to hammer with my normal force.but once i did i realised i was`nt using my arm or shoulder nearly as much and i could use it a lot longer and it was`nt as tiring as my DEAD ON 21 OZ cali.
i let a buddy borrow it for a day when his hammer was M.I.A. and he bought one the next day.
only thing i miss is no nail holder for the odd angled shots.
i`ve talked to some who HATE these hammers and some who LOVE them.i LOVE mine.
but hold it and see if its right for you.the guy at the store that i bought mine let me try it out on some scrap he had and i was sold.
Best Hammer I've ever used July 11, 2006 R. Scott (Waterford, WI USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was working on my house and was recommended this hammer buy a firend of mine. This hammer makes it easy to swing and you don't have the arm/shoulder pain that you get from other hammers. The weight forward makes this hammer hit with more force and less impact on my body. I recommend this Estwing hammer to everyone! It's worth the money!!!!
