3 out of 5 stars Nice feel, Nice features,... Not hardened enough!   July 15, 2007

I like the vibration dampening, the balance, and the nail holder. BUT, the milled face was almost flat within 2 weeks! The claw also seems a little shallow as well.

I am a framer and I have had my Estwing E3-28SM for almost 5 years before it flattened out like this one. The milled face isn't all that important, after so many years of using hammers. But, I would have expected the milled face to last longer than what this has. I'm, also, not a Spring Chicken any more!(lol)(mid 40's) So, I am finding the nail holder to be an, occasionally, really nice feature on a hammer.

I wrote to Estwing to see if they plan on utilizing a magnetic nail holder in the near future. So, I'll wait and see, while using the Xstreme.
I have really been happy with some of the innovations, of the new Stanley tools. I am, just mainly, disappointed with the temper of steel that they went with, for this hammer.

I'll say, I'm going to have to pass on the $80 and up hammers! Titanium hammer at $100-$200? That equals 4-6 new Estwings, each at around 5 years? That equals about 20-30 years! And...I still swing 24-28oz! (No!... No joint pain included!(lol)) I don't think I'll still be framing THAT long!(lol)

We all have our own opinions. This is just mine. Hope it helps!
