Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Angico is a tropical wood known for it's density and heavy weight. It makes an excellent substitute for Lignum Vitae, the traditional mallet wood . The head is turned from a solid block of wood and the handle extends all the way through the head and is secured with a wedged joint at the bottom. Unlike Lignum Vitae, Angico is not prone to cracking and checking in North American climates. If you have been looking for a hardworking, durable mallet at an affordable price, here it is! Weight 22 oz., Length 9 1/2", Head Diameter 3 1/4" Made in Brazil

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Excellent mallet and a great value   October 17, 2008

This is a well made mallet and just about the perfect shape and balance. Not too big, not too heavy, and the proper length for the handle. The only thing I did was take some sand paper to the handle to smooth it a bit. I doubt I will ever wear out this carving mallet, but if you really use one all of the time, you could buy 4-5 of these for the price of one lignum vitae mallet. Mike

@ 8000 Feet in Colorado and as dry as it gets, this is the best wood for a mallet of this type.
