Product Description Vaughan 7180 16 Oz Dalluage HammerThe Vaughan California Framer hammer combines the best features of two of our most popular tools into a rugged, heavy construction hammer. The smoothly swept claws were borrowed from the "999" rip hammer, and the striking face, hatchet eye and sturdy handle are a heritage of the Vaughan Rigbuilder's Hatchet. The striking face is extra large to minimize the chance of missed strikes. The hatchet style handle, available straight or curved, is made from American hickory. To provide extra strength, the handle has a large cross section where it joins the fully polished head.Vaughan 7180 16 Oz Dalluage Hammer Features:; Milled face grips nail head to minimize slipping and flying nails; American Hickory handle; Extra heavy framer design; 16 oz; American Hickory handle

Worth buying August 1, 2010 Greg Cox I didnt really want to spend this kind of money on a hamer but some of my buddies have them and really like them. The first couple of days using them, my elbow was soar but then after that it was ok. I think I just had to build up my muscles enough to handle the bigger hamer. I get work done fastser with this.
Professional Framer July 30, 2010 Alex This is a great hammer. I used to swing a 14 oz. stiletto but got sick of breaking my handles all the time. I thought it would take a bit of time to adapt to the extra two ounces of dalluge but this hammer is so incredibly balanced that you feel like you are swinging a much lighter hammer. This hammer has it all from the magnetic nail set to the side nail puller. it was just designed to make a framer's life easier. Some people might not want a wood handled hammer especially when the replacement handles cost $35 but with hammer head being bolted in and over-swing protecters, it makes it much harder to break. all in all a great hammer.
Not quite sure July 26, 2010 william I bought this because i wanted to switch to titanium again and I hate stillettos. I like the hammer but I wish the claws were a little bit longer. Also the handle broke after 3 weeks and replacements are double what a normal hammer handle costs. Otherwise its become my favorite framer.
worth the wait July 13, 2010 Jason Collins (granite city il) I waited a while to buy this hammer,I'd looked at it and drolled over it and researched it,but,I've had a wood handled stilleto 16 oz for 5 yrs. That did not need replacing.Well the Dalluge finally went on sale right about the time I had some extra cash..so I got it.
This may be the best hammer I've ever used(pro carpenter/builder 15yrs) it's so well balanced,it is almost a treat to swing.I just cant comment on the longevity because I've only had for about 2 months....so far so good!
Ya get what you pay for June 12, 2010 S. W. Harwood (West Michigan) I researched this a long time, couldn't justify the cost because I have so many hammers already and I don't use it professionally. I had to wait for my birthday so my kids could 'group gift' something that would last longer than I would and this hammer should do it.
The weight is the same as others and has a longer handle but feels lighter because of the balance. It's also somewhat empowering when you have the only one like this of all the people you know.
It really is a great design, and the workmanship is first class. But my son warned me in the birthday card, "be careful, when you have a hammer in your hand, everything looks like a nail'. Yup, no buyers remorse here.
